  • The Mahlogonolo Food Gardening Project

Since the end of 2002, the employees from Avory Shlain Cosmetics South Africa proudly support the 'Mahlogonolo Food Gardening Project'. They offer help and support to the Mahlogonolo Team in Rabie Ridge, one of the poorer community areas near the Avroy Shlain office. The Team is now able to bring food on the table and have hope for the future. Avroy Shlain has deployed a great number of initiatives to support this food gardening project. A 'Seeds Day' was organized were generous quantities of seeds and fertilizers were donated and an irrigation system was donated. 'Vegetable Days' on the Avroy Shlain premises were organized in order to enable to Mahlogonolo Team to directly sell their fresh vegetables tot the employees of Avroy Shlain. Besides this, Avroy Shlain has added an impactful training aspect to their PPP Project. The PPP team members now teach the the Mahlogonolo Team about, for example, nutrition and financial basics. Avroy Shlain has decided to organize these activities on a regular and continuous basis because the food garden approach empowers disenfranchised communities to build self-sustaining businesses.

  • Project Hope - A Cause towards Recovery, A Cause towards Unity

Through its continuous PPP Program, Sara Lee Philippines dedicates time and effort to high impact activities under the name 'Project Hope'. The employees of Sara Lee Philippines are highly involved with the St. Mary's home for abused children and its residents. An institution that helps the victims of child abuse by giving them shelter and provide food and clothing. What started with saving a certain amount of money each month to buy food, clothing and other basic needs for the children, gradually evolved in regular visits by all Sara Lee employees by all levels, including their families. At this point in time, employees provided the facilities to enhance the recovery programs of the kids, and an activity center was built and supplied with old computers, which now serves as the training place for skills and development. A Christmas party at the Sara Lee plant was organized as well. Inspired by the success stories of the beneficiaries and the employees' sense of fulfillment from the project, Sara Lee Philippines will continue its visits and support to the St. Mary's Home, including the implementation of a Skills Development Program in the future.

  • All Our Children

In September 2002, the employees of Prima, Poland implemented a brand new PPP community program called 'All Our Children', a unique concept in the Polish reality that focuses on education, entertainment and sports initiatives dedicated to orphanage foster children. Important things in life, which normally are not available to those children due to both the location of the orphanages and the limited budgets. Two orphanages with a total of 70 children were chosen by Prima and were invited to join the program, which was designed to play an educational and entertaining role and provided an opportunity to broaden the children's horizon. The Prima staff deployed a great number of heart-warming activities for the children. Funds were raised as well as toys, clothes and sports equipment. The money collected was used to organize a Christmas dinner party and  a New Year's dinner party - including real internet training from Prima's IT managers- at the Prima location. An 'Olympic Games' event was also organized in order to offer the kids an opportunity to make their appearance in all kinds of sports competitions. Within the months to come, the employees of Prima will continue investing their time, skills and efforts in organizing various activities for and with these children.
